Sapa - A Legacy of Mountain Retreats

Sapa - A Legacy of Mountain Retreats

Following in the footsteps of French travellers who journeyed to the region in the early 20th century, Sunflower Group found its way to Sapa, a land first discovered in 1903, renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and pleasant climate. It was once envisioned as a “resort capital” nestled among the mountains of Northwestern Vietnam.

  • Amid a journey through a land steeped in culture and natural beauty, at once romantic and majestic, whose reputation has endured since the early 20th century, our developer “discovered” Muong Hoa, a place that embodies many of Sapa’s most distinctive qualities while retaining a quiet and deeply personal charm of its own.

The fresh mountain air, expansive landscapes and peaceful villages nestled among the surrounding mountains left a lasting impression. From that moment, Muong Hoa was chosen as the setting for a new journey, where a vision for a retreat immersed in nature and in harmony with the local culture of Muong Hoa gradually began to take shape.

Creating a Retreat in the Heart of Muong Hoa’s Nature

Le Jardin was born here, at an elevation notably higher than Sapa’s central area. As a result, the climate remains pleasantly cool throughout the year, with temperatures typically 3–5°C lower than in central Sapa.

From this elevation, Muong Hoa seems to unfold more widely before the eyes. The mountains appear closer, the sky feels more expansive, while the sounds of the town seem to fade somewhere far beyond the valley.

A Private Haven Hidden in Peaceful Muong Hoa

In French, Le Jardin Secret evokes the feeling of a private and secluded place, where beauty does not need to be displayed, but is instead discovered and experienced in the most natural and personal way.

Nestled within the vast landscape of Muong Hoa, Le Jardin does not seek to separate itself from its surroundings. Instead, it chooses to exist gently among the mountains and forests, allowing the beauty that has always belonged to this place to remain visible and to be experienced in its most natural form.

It may be a cool highland morning, waking to mountain ridges emerging softly through the mist. It may be a slow afternoon spent looking down over the valley after a day exploring the surrounding villages. Or perhaps a day spent alongside local people, learning the art of traditional brocade weaving, visiting village homes, walking among the terraced rice fields and listening to stories of customs that have shaped life here for generations.

And then, returning to Le Jardin, sitting a little longer on the veranda, listening to the wind move through the trees, sipping a cup of tea or a glass of wine, and simply letting the day unfold in its own natural rhythm.
